Here is your chance with this two-week challenge!
Swim Despite Winter (SDW) is a 2-week long program from December 1-14 where you can track your daily swim yardage and participate in daily challenges. Each challenge adds an additional 200 yards to your total swim yardage. All of the challenges are listed below. Participants will try to swim the most yardage within the two weeks and will try to complete as many challenges as they can. This program is free to all participants and is a great way to work off the Thanksgiving feast.
How to participate:
Register online at the above link or sign-up with a lifeguard starting Thursday, November 20 and track your swim yardage from December 1-14, 2008!
Daily Challenges:
12/1: Swim 25 yards of each stroke in this order: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle
12/2: Swim 25 yards without breathing
12/3: Swim 50 yards of freestyle under 50 seconds
12/4: Use a pull buoy and pull for 10 minutes non-stop
12/5: Perform a handstand in the water and hold it for 5 seconds
12/6: Swim 25 yards holding a 10 lb. brick the whole way without stopping
12/7: Workout in the pool for 1.5 hours
12/8: Swim 25 yards of sidestroke (pick the apple off the tree and place it in the basket)
12/9: Swim 50 yards of butterfly without stopping
12/10: In a standing position, perform 2 backward somersaults continuously
12/11: Swim 25 yards head-up freestyle
12/12: Eggbeater kick for 1 minute non-stop
12/13: Swim 100 yards freestyle breathing every 5 strokes
12/14: Swim 10x100 yards (your choice of stroke) on a 2-minute rest interval
Are you ready for the daily challenges?
-Prize awarded for four or more daily challenges completed per week = entry in prize drawing
-Prize awarded for completing all challenges = entry in prize drawing
Can you swim the most yardage in two weeks?
