Earn Cool Rewards While Working Out in the Water 3/26 - 4/29!

Aquatic exercise has many healthy benefits: low impact exercise, total body work out, increased cardiovascular endurance, to name a few. Most think of aquatic exercise as being just swimming laps. While this is an option, there are alternatives for every skill and comfort level. The Swim to Summer 2012 program (5 week long) offers everyone a chance to use water to exercise, whether you are starting from scratch or are an accomplished swimmer. Starting on Monday, March 26th and running through Sunday, April 29, YOU can choose your path to fitness.

How to Participate

Step 1: Register online or in-person starting Monday, February 27, 2012! Register with a RS lifeguard at the SRSC-CBAC or HPER-Royer Pools. You can sign up for one of two skill level groups:

ACTIVE: 10,000 total yards

FITNESS: 30,000 total yards

Step 2: Track each workout and record the total distance (in yards) on the tracking log provided to you. For those attempting the weekly challenges, let a lifeguard know when you attempt the challenge. Upon successfully completing any of the 3 challenges, a lifeguard will stamp your tracking log. You can attempt any of the 3 challenges as many times as you wish during that week, but you will only be entered into the prize drawing once if successfully completed.

Step 3: Upon completing the Active or Fitness group in your five-week log, place your log in the Swim to Summer box at SRSC or HPER by Sunday, April 29th. You will be eligible to win 1 of 2 prize packages valued at over $100 each! Winners of the prize drawing will be notified by e-mail.

Ways to Earn Yardage:

Recreational Swimming: 1 length = 25 yards

Aqua Jog: 10 Minutes = 400 yards

Deep Water Exercise: 45 Minutes = 1,000 yards

RS Swimming Lessons: 1,250 yards
